Not pretty work, but sometimes you do what you have to do. So far we had avoided the inflatable repair business. The
first lesson was a boat that the owner brought in wanting a fixed quote for repairing a leak. Well he got his first leak
fixed, but I could not return it as it would not hold air. Four more patches it would take, shame on him and lesson
learned.
I had been watching an older inflatable age and was getting concerned for the owner. I had been searching for a
coating for several years and it finally appeared, with word that the mfg. is no longer producing the product.
With no experience working with the Hypalon coating I still took on the project of restoration. I found the product a little
difficult to apply neatly as it was to thick to spray with the equipment I had on hand. It would roll but lifted to make a
rough texture. This ended up being several applications using a small brush. I said not pretty and that is how it ended
up, however I have extended the boats service life.
